What is science?

What is science?

Science is a systematic process of acquiring and organizing knowledge about the natural world. It involves observing, experimenting, and making predictions based on evidence. Science aims to explain the universe and the phenomena within it through testable hypotheses and explanations.

Scientific attitude

Scientific attitude requires a flexible, open minded approach towards solving problems in which other important points of view are not neglected.

What is physics?

The branch of science which deals with study of nature and natural phenomena is called physics.

Two basics domain in physics

In physics, a basic domain refers to a scale or level of investigation. Two primary domains are the

(1) macroscopic domains.

The macroscopic domain deals with phenomena observable at larger scales, like everyday objects and celestial bodies,

(2) microscopic domain:

The microscopic domain focuses on the atomic and subatomic levels, including atoms, molecules, and particles.

Branches of physics:

Physics is broadly divided into two major areas:

(1). Classical Physics:

Classical Physics, which emerged before the 20th century, deals with the laws of motion, gravitation, thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetism, and mechanics.

(2). Modern Physics.

Modern Physics, which emerged in the 20th century, includes quantum mechanics, relativity, nuclear physics, and particle physics.

Two basic quests in physics

(1). Reductionism:

It is the approach of understanding complex systems by breaking them down into simpler, more fundamental components. This allows us to study and apply the laws of physics to these simpler systems and then understand how they interact to form the more complex system. It's a foundational principle in scientific inquiry, where simpler concepts are built upon to create more complex ones.

(2). Unification:

Unification refers to the process of combining different theories or laws that explain various phenomena into a single, cohesive framework. It aims to create a unified understanding of the physical world by finding common principles that explain seemingly disparate interactions.
